FarmerSurvivor

Hey yesterday was a beautiful day for our annual Farmer Survivor at the Berge farm: the sun was shining and warm with a gentle cool breeze. It was also a great day to enjoy the Berge's pool as seen below:

( Bliss and Austin fight over pool toy while others watch on)

The events were creative and fun as always; thanks to the creative mind of Sandy Berge. Some of the events were: balloon volleyball, tail grab (see pic below), egg toss, Ma and Pa relay race (see pic below), fishing, ring toss, rubber boot water relay, and water baloon toss and catch. We've always enjoyed Survivor; it's been a highlight of every year I've been here. Again, big thanks to Richard and Sandy for hosting this cool event.

Watermelon Helmets

Amy and Chase display their helmets from Melon Fest on Friday night, see blog below

Melon Festival is a "smash"

Friday night was Melon Festival. From my perspective it seemed like everyone got a bit sticky, full of watermelon, and had a good time. There were a variety of events such as:

- Ultimate Cantelope> Just like ultimate frisbee, but with cantelopes; a little harder to throw, a little harder to catch, and they split open and make a mess on your clothes. Plus if you spike a football after a touchdown, you don't wreck the football.

- Steal the Honeydew> people are numbered and lined up. When a number is called the two people run to the honeydew and try to bring it back to the middle, while the other is trying to stop them.

- Watermelon toss > partners line up in front of each other, and toss the watermelon. After every toss, they take a step back. If the watermelon drops and break they are out.

- Helmet Carving> groups take watermelons and try to carve the most decorate and creative helmets ( pictures above)

It was a cool evening, as always. Note the final events this week:

- Wed. Farmer Survivor 2:00 @ Berge's Farm. Bus leaves 1:45 from office. Bring swimsuit.

- Thurs. Youth Golf Tournament Talk to Adam

- Friday Canada day BBQ @ Cochrane's Food, Games etc. Bus leaves office @ 6:00pm

Goodbye open noon

This last week was the beginning of the end. Thursday was the last open noon hour. Open noon hours were just a peak of a dream of mine to have a functioning drop-in center in BH; except it would be open several hours a day. Open noon hours were the times I thought our youthgroup was like a family. It was always cool to see who showed up. Some of our regulars started coming to youth because of open noon hour, and for some people it was the only time we saw them. Thanks to all of you who made it overall a wonderful time, and full of fond memories. What's yours? Post them in the comments.

Last night we went swimming at Frank Dunn; my ears still hurt from getting those rings out of the diving pool. Looking forward to football today.

This next week: Softball for fun wed. 6:30 (last one), Last Biblestudy Thurs. 7:30

Duct Tape Fest

Friday was Duct Tape Fest! An evening of games and events celebrating Canada'a favorite tool. We had bowling with duct tape rolls; we had races balancing duct tape on the head; we had the classic three-legged race(above) with you guessed it, duct tape. Kyle Jensen proved he had a steady arm and a focused mind when he outdid the others by holding a jumbo role of duct tape out in front of him for 6 minutes. (I personally probably wouldn't last 3 minutes). The highlight of the night was probably the "Fly on the Wall" (below)

The girls were taped up for 15 minutes, and probably could have stayed up there for hours, but our impatience cut them down. The other cool thing was that a few people showed up with items made of duct tape. There were some cool things, but Kymmie (did I spell it right?) stole the show with her handbag made of duct tape; she even had a rose on it made of red duct tape! Totally cool! She could easily make a few of those and sell them; but remember I get 5% as your manager. Tommorrow, a group of us are going paintballing. I hope I won't get to bruised up. Sunday night, I could be preaching my last sermon in BH at the Baccelareaut service at Lake Park 7:00pm. A busy weekend, but that's the way we like it in the RYSC youthgroup.

Fear Factor

Friday was a kicking time at our annual Fear Factor. Those of you that came out can testify to what a good time it was. The highlights of the evening were the "Pass the Onion", "Sock Rip and Chug Relay", "Chubby Bunny (with sardines)", and the always popular "Puke Push"; which Austin won again. We'll have more pictures later.

A Note for next week that there is open noon tues., wed., and thurs.; softball on wednesday; Duct Tape Fest on Friday; and Paintball on Saturday. For details on any of these give Adam a shout.
